Show & Tell Friday (Holiday Edition)

With my trees up again, I am surrounded by my little treasures that I only see about a month per year. I think that's part of what makes them so special. Each ornament has a story. Some stories are better than others but they all have one just the same. Here are some more from my trees:

OK, these are very very special. I was either in 4th or 5th grade and my mom brought home this wooden ornament kit. We spent an entire evening painting these ornaments. I vividly remember that night. I know I painted these but I remember painting one that had a teddy bear on it because my little brother, Jon, who would have been about 5 or 6 had to run and get his teddy bear for me so I could see how to paint it. How cute is that? (I probably didn't think it quite so cute at the time) Several years ago my mom gave us each some of these for our own trees and ever since then they are proudly displayed in my home.

This little Boyd's bear came to me last year as part of a gift from my long-distance friend, Lorraine. Lorraine and I have been friends for over 20 years. And for 19 of those 20 years we have lived halfway across the country from eachother. We don't call or keep in touch like we should but we each have 4 kids and life is busy and hectic for each of us. We always remember eachother at Christmas. I thought this little guy was so cute and even though he's not a "traditional" ornament, it makes me happy to see him nestled in the boughs. He looks so cute up there. If I had him on a shelf or something, he'd get lost. On the tree, he has a nice place of prominence.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I have collected 8 new ornamentes for the kids this year plus an additional one for me. I guess maybe I should get Cliff one so he won't feel so left out. Maybe certain people in "Bulldog" country could help me out with finding a GA Bulldog ornament?? Hmmm????? I will photograph and post the new ones as soon as I get my camera situation worked out.

For more Show & Tell fun, head over to Kelli's House.

Have a very merry weekend!!

I love how ornaments can evoke so many good memories---I think we should have a tree just for all the old ornaments---I used to do that and I was too lazy this year--and busy doing other things. I still have some eggs my brother and I blew out---they have survived the many years and moves--They are over 40 years old!!

Rebecca,

Each year I give my daughter's family an ornament for the family and then the grandsons get one each. I try to choose something different each year. They have hockey players, trains, rocking horses and this year they're getting light-up snowmen. Last year they got Jingle Buddies. They love them and one day when they have their very own Christmas trees for the first time, they will have an assortment of ornaments.

Yours are adorable. Thanks so much for sharing.

Blessings,
Mary

The teddy bear is precious. We have a Beanie Baby ornament from my husband's aunt.
