Birthday Wishes

Sometimes people come into our lives and they make us better people for having crossed paths with them. Other times, however, we are placed into someone else's life and hopefully the results are the same. Such is the case with parents and children. My parents didn't come into my life but I certainly came into theirs!!
This past Tuesday, my mom celebrated her **th birthday! All I could do was wish her a Happy Birthday over the phone since she was out of town and give her a promise that we will celebrate in another week. I'm so thankful to live near my mom at this point in my life. She is probably the best friend I have right now, other than Cliff. She's always got a listening ear for me and is usually ready to give some good, godly advice when needed. She is a wonderful grandma and role model to my children. Going to grandma's is right up there with going to Disney World...even at their ages, they love spending time with grandma.
My mom was out of town over her birthday. She spent it with her dad who is in the hospital. Knowing his days on this earth are quickly drawing to an end, I was so glad for her that she got to spend one more birthday with him. How bittersweet.
Happy Birthday, Mom!!

Blog Abandonment!!!!

I did not mean to abandon my blog...it just sort of "happened!"
Several months ago, we had to take a close, hard look at our budget and make some cuts due to Cliff's ever-changing hours and lay-offs. One of the things we had to cut was internet connection at home. I'm not happy about it but figured we could come to the library which is just a couple miles from our house and get it for free. Unfortunatly when you run into a couple weeks where you are busy and not feeling so great, going to the library seems like a big deal so that's why my blog was abandoned for a little while.

Why were we so busy? Easter weekend. Josh came home, so there's always a time of preparation for that. Then along with celebrating Easter, we also celebrated Amy's 21st birthday. Cliff and I took off Sunday evening and drove Josh back down to school. All of this while I'm still dealing with this sinus junk that robs me of far too much energy.

I will do a post about Amy in honor of her birthday on another day. My computer decided to act up today so I'm on one of the library's and I can't access my personal pictures.

In the meantime, you can head over to Amy's blog for some pictures of our weekend. She's pretty much taken over the photography and she's pretty good at it.

More Bits and Pieces

I meant for my last post to just be sort of random things that are going on around here. When I got to writing about Cliff's job, however, my mind took a turn and it filled the entire post. Now I really do just have some random "stuff."
My battle with the never-ending sinus problem continues. I thought, perhaps, last Sunday my hearing was noticeably improved until I woke up on Monday to find it as bad as ever. If I am one-on-one with someone and they look at me and I can usually hear them...but other than that it's pretty bad. My ct scan and bloodwork showed nothing so my dr. seems to think it could all be allergy related. I'm doubtful. At this point, I'm just not sure what to do. The dr. wants me to follow up with her when I finish the current antibiotic. I've been on 4 since January and nothing has worked. A friend told me yesterday about a sinus was her dr. prescribed for her. You make it yourself. I'm not sure yet if I can actually put liquid up my nose into my sinuses but if it works.... well, we'll just have to see.
Cliff has one more week off of his lay-off. I hear a news report on Ford motor company and it was actual good news for a change.
Joshua is coming home for Easter...a first as he hasn't been home for Easter since leaving for school 3 years ago. He sent ahead his Easter candy wish list!!
My husband is now the proud owner of a 1994 Ford Ranger pick-up. He's thrilled!! He has wanted a truck as long as I can remember. When you have 4 young children, a truck that seats 2 is not the most practical thing. A few weeks ago, this truck all but fell into his lap. I'm happy for him. Jacob, who is at the age where he can get is license is eyeing it and my mom is eyeing it too for other reasons!!!! LOL!!

Bits and Pieces

My husband, Cliff, drives a semi. He's driven these trucks for years. It would drive me crazy to have to drive all day long but he loves it. He's been at his current job for about 4 years now and he was thrilled when he got this job. He works for a warehouse that sorts and delivers parts (eg: steering wheels, brakes, etc.) to the Ford plant here in downtown KC. I don't have to fill any of you in on how things are going with the auto industry these days. It's been a bit of a tentative time but we have decided to continue to place our trust in the Lord as we always have tried to do. We are thankful Cliff still has a job. He does, however, have lay-offs. Right now, he's finishing week one of a 3-week lay-off. Then he'll work 2 weeks and be off 2 weeks. He does get unemployment when he's laid off and that is something to be very thankful for. God has provided all that we need and more and there's no doubt in my mind and heart that He will continue to do all that He has promised. We have no idea how things will go or what the future holds but what we do know, is WHO holds the future!!
