When I was a senior in high school, we were living in Long Island, New York. My parents decided that particular Christmas (1982) we would travel to Kansas to spend it with my grandparents and our other family who lived relatively close.
My grandmother was so excited to have us all there. It's the only time I ever remember that entire side of the family sitting down together for a C
hristmas dinner. I happened to remember a particular bowl she used to serve some vegetables. At the time, it caught my attention because it was pink and had a unique shape. Two and a half years later, my grandmother passed away from cancer. One of the things my mother received was that particular bowl. It stayed in her house until two years ago when I asked her if I could h
ave it. One, because I LOVE bowls and two, I especially loved this one. It's so unique and I have it on display in my china cabinet. The picture does not totally capture all the variagated shades of pink. It's a Fenton glass bowl and when I look at it, I remember my grandmother and especially that very special Christmas.

What a super cute bowl! I wonder if its not for a plant though... because it has feet. Anywho, I think I would buy one of those lead testing kits to check it for lead.... normally the more beautiful the item the more lead it has!

Oh, that was such a perfect story for S&T. I am sorry that your beloved grandmother passed away from cancer (my father and mother-in-law, too!). That bowl is so unique indeed! And how wonderful that you have a china cabinet to display it!
I wonder if you will use it again for one of the future Christmas, as a special tribute to your grandmother! ;-))

WOW! I can relate! Today one of the items in my pictures is an old brown stoneware bowl I remember my own Grandmother using at her house! She was going to sell it at a rummage sale for 25 cents and I begged her for it! I used it for many years until I retired it! I have a soft side for your post today since we seem to have a common sentiment!

I had some Depression glass from my paternal grandmother I just loved; it survived five moves while in MY hands! My mother ended up breaking both pieces by accident. I'm still heartbroken - but you're taking excellent care of it! I wish I had photos of my glassware!
