We bought our house 5 years ago. It was built in 1910 and had so much character and potential. We knew the house would need alot of work but we realized that we didn't have to try to do it overnight or even in the first year. We bought the house intending to be here for a very long time. Since our house is so old, the walls are lathe and plaster rather than sheet rock. Can I even begin to tell you about cracking plaster? Plus, over the years, there's been some settling so needless to say our walls have lots of cracks (character!). My guess is that the sellers, in their attempt to hide all the cracks, wallpapered every single wall in this house. Now, I don't mind wallpaper if it's tasteful and in moderate amounts but the wallpaper in my bedroom was yellow strips with very large purple flowers all over it. It was so busy I could hardly sleep! It was quite a process taking that wallpaper down, dealing with countless cracks and finally ending up with a very calming green. The next project on my list was the bathroom. I wanted it to remind me of the beach (a place I find very relaxing) plus it coordinated very well with my bedroom colors. The picture on top is the "BEFORE." Notice the very, very busy wallpaper!! We finally finished up in there last week. Below you'll find the "AFTERS." I just love my new bathroom!!

Fabulous job!!! It's so clam and serene looking now with the pastels and white fixtures. Nice show n tell.
Very pretty and it looks so soothing in there. Nice job!
It's beautiful! I love that shade of blue. I think my shower curtain matches that wallpaper border. I have a lighthouse theme in mine.
I have always liked that border and considered using it when we redid our bathroom, but it just didn't fit with the rest of the house. Can't wait to see it in person!!
What a beautiful room!
I love it!

The shore is so relaxing - I love how you coordinated the colors of the border and wall colour.
Great job! It looks lovely!
What a beautiful shade of blue! So soothing--it does make me think of a blue-sky afternoon of sailing!
I know that must have been a lot of work and you have a lovely new bathroom to show for it!
I loved your blog!
Blessings to you!

Beautiful and I know how you feel to finally get it done! it took us ten years to get around to our ustairs bath.I love the bead board!
Love it. I have an ocean themed bathroom too. Framed pictures of shells, and a wreath I made out of seashells, many of which I beachcombed myself in Alaska.
Coincidence.

I can almost hear the sound of the ocean, how pretty your bathroom is,the colors are very soothing.
Much much much more sooooooothing---ya gotta love blue and white!!I know what you mean about the plaster and cracks!! I have them even in the tile of the bathroom!! Our house was built in the 40's but it sits on gumbo clay--so there is a settling and more settling. One of the biggest cracks was in the stairwell!! But we have them all over where we don't have tongue and grove or paneling. I was afraid to take the wallpaper down in 2 of the rooms---afraid of what cracks they may reveal so I did the unthinkable and painted over the wall paper--but hey, it looks way way better than the lumpy cracked walls. However, we don't have to try to get the old look, now do we??
Oh, your bathroom is so pretty and relaxing! I love the special seaside treasures!
